Tom Casey Given Posthumous Award

Jay County Civic Theatre Board
has established
The Jay County Civic Theatre
Lifetime Achievement Award

to recognize people who have had a profound
effect on theatre in Jay County.
The inaugural recipient of this award was

Tom Casey

His widow, Sue Casey, was present to accept the award,
which was presented to her by three of her husband's
long-time friends and collaborators
Dolphus Stephens, Kent McClung, and Barbara Wilkinson.

From 2006 the official name of the award was changed to
The Tom Casey Lifetime Achievement Award.

It is not too much to say that without Tom Casey,
Jay County theatre would today be a much
different organization. He was instrumental
in helping to establish so many things that,
over time, have become theatre traditions.
For more than ten years, from 1981 to 1991, there
were almost no shows that did not feature Tom
in some way, shape, or form, most often as
Director, Writer, or Featured Player
(and sometimes as all three at once!)

Tom was a beacon of light, and he is sorely missed.
